AAC GB Shopshire [12 Images]

A Camping Weekend for Shropshire On Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th June 06 the Shropshire branch of the AAC GB had a camping weekend at “The Old Swan” at Montford Bridge just outside Shrewsbury. After asking all the local members if they were up for it, at the previous meet in may, we went ahead and organised it. So the big day arrives, we delivered our caravan and the gazebos to the site and set about erecting the eating area and the cooking area .We had told everyone to arrive anytime after 12.00 noon .By 1pm I was starting to panic, the only people to arrive was Steve, Darren and family with their Camaro and Ecoline van. All I could think of was £200 of food drink and only about 12 people, but I need not have worried as over the next few hours everyone arrived in dribs and drabs. By the time we had started cooking there was in excess of 40 people. On the menu was pork chops, burgers, sausages, chicken and chicken sata on sticks. There was also a small amount of salad, crisps and nuts and sauces. By the time we had finished eating and cooking everyone had moved to there own areas to listen to the music that they liked and played in their vehicles. A few of us stayed under the gazebos just talking, laughing and joking. By about 12:30am we were ready for our beds and left the others by their cars enjoying themselves. Steve, Darren and the family all retired to their tents, my family and friends were ushered off to bed and Graham and his wife, who are one of our more mature members retired to their tent, which they had purchased for this weekend and had not camped for years. On the Sunday morning my wife (Denise) got up at some ungodly hour (5:30am) As my son and the lads with us stayed awake all night talking, by the time I crawled out of bed Denise had cleared up and started the breakfast, with the aid of my daughter Donna and her friend Alice (who the f**k! is Alice). People appeared slowly and had a bacon and egg butty with copious amounts of tea or coffee. And so the weekend was over, we had to be off the site by 12pm so it was a mad panic to pack everything away. The out come was that all enjoyed themselves and one by one as they drove of they all thank us wanting to do it all again. I would like to thank all that came along, because by turning up they made the weekend. But mostly I would like to thank Donna (daughter), Alice {Donna’s friend}. Aiden (son), Sean (daughter’s boy friend) and Denise (my wife) for all her hard work and putting up with me panicking about the weekend and if it would all be ok, which in the end it was not just ok, it was a really great weekend. Capesthorn Hall. [16 Images]

A weekend show hosted by Andrew Greenwood this August bank holiday weekend and wasn't the weather typical with showers and sun at regular intervals, but still folk turned out to give a good display. My thanks to all the GB members that turned out to support the club

Clubs 1st Outing [7 Images]

Regardles of the terrible conditions there was a fair turnout at the Cucoo Fair this May 2006 at Laughton in Sussex. The tractor display was very impresive and the steam tractors were a pleasure to watch with the emergency road building giving them a purpose to go all day long. The tractor pulling competition although not everyones taste added yet another attraction not often seen at this type of show. Dispite the soft ground (read mud) Mark true to his word gave Heidi a drive in his Trans Am something I dont think she will ever forget, and well done to Heidi who only slightly spun the wheels once, in a car like this that is quite an achievment even for a qualified driver.

Kyle Rod and Custom Show [24 Images]

Travelled to the Kyle Rod & Custom Show at Irvine in Scotland for the Show day 20th August, in convoy with other scottish members. Started off a bit damp, but soon brightened up. Plenty of American cars in amongst Rods and other custom cars. Sun came out and we all had a great day. After the show we cruised to Ayr beach where Heidi and Laura went for a paddle in the sea. A lovely end to a superb day.

Nantwich Show [22 Images]

We arrived at Nantwich on Friday what a lovely place, the park is lovely and flat. Many thanks to the local Firestation Officer John Grocott for letting us fill up with water at his station, that was fun !! Saturday came dry , but a chilly wind. Joe and team were setting out cars as they started arriving early. A nice display was formed, it was good to see different cars at a local meet. Sunday dawned with a bit of rain to start, but that soon passed and the cars flowed onto the park. Up went gazeebo's and out came the chairs. Armed with thier coffee's people were happy. Plenty of people walking about admiring the vehicles. Many thanks to Joe and the committee for inviting us, we shall be back next year. Smaller shows need all the support they can get, so come on mark it in your diary for next year -- August 12th 2007.

Thunder in the Glens 2006, Aviemore [17 Images]

What a weekend with 2 of our reps in attendance,Neil our Scottish rep and also Ray our Liverpool & Wirral rep. Saturday morning dawned to brilliant sunshine. After a leisurly breakfast and a walk around the trade stands it was time for the ride out, and what a rideout it was.It starts off at 12pm prompt. The American cars had lined up so we all slotted in together. One of the marshalls stopped the bikes so we could join, and then it was one big procession of bikes and us. The whole town of Aviemore was blocked off, and people lined the streets 5 or 6 deep waving and clapping as we went past. We cruised to Grantown-On-Spey and the bikes parked in the main street for a couple of hours so locals could have a look at the bikes and the local scottish pipe band could play. The ambiance was great. We all cruised back to Aviemore and enjoyed an afternoon of chatting to people and generally having a great time. Sorry you didnt feel well Harold, but next year will come soon enough!!!! There was a big firework display to round the evening off. Beautiful displays of colours and bursts.Very enjoyable it was. Sunday came with a slight drizzle and that didnt last long. Out came the sun and the day went far too quickly . The chosen charity this year was Breast Cancer, and alot of money has been raised, with the likes of a raffle, the prize being a Harley Bike worth over £5,000. And also there were charity rides on Harleys on the Sunday afternoon, so for £3 the kids and adults could have a ride around the hotel complex. Even i had a ride, woohoo. Heidi went on at least 6 , now she wants one for christmas !!!!!!! The club will definatly be back next year, in greater numbers with some planning a weeks holiday.

Towyn Show [22 Images]

What a brilliant weekend, sunshine every day. Sunday came with the sun beating down. Cars were coming in to park up at a steady rate , by 10am the club area was full so more room was organised. A lovely mixture of cars, trucks, dayvans, custom and rods were on display. Lots of people walking around. Nice to chat to other club members too, some we hadn't seen for a while. Thanks to all those who came and displayed their vehicles on the GB stand. Bigger and Better for next year. A BIG thankyou Bob and The Guzzlers who's show this is, for all their efforts. This show has gone from strength to strength. Long may it continue.

Wicksteed Park 2006 [20 Images]

To Kirk a big thankyou for organizing this weekend, I do believe everyone present enjoyed themselves. As always the kids made full use of the discounted ride tickets as well as the sunshine that blessed us after a very wet start to the Sunday. Full credit to the park staff once again for there friendly and caring attention to our needs, its always a pleasure to attend this venue. We had the pleasure of seeing some beautiful cars like the 39 Chevy at one end and the Plymouth Prowler at the other with all sorts in between. Kirk will be arranging the event again for next next year making this one for our annual calander.

Woodvale Show [15 Images]

Arriving at RAF Woodvale on Friday morning to brilliant sunshine, we set out the club area and then put the kettle on. Sam ( acting chairperson) from the AACNW arrived and lots of fun was had in helping her put up her marquee. By this time quite a few cars had started to arrive. It never takes long to fill up this site, traders by the bucketfull , the fair and the club plots. With us next to the North West and the PT Cruisers opposite us, it made for a great weekend. Saturday dawned and another lovely day. Cars arrived early to park on the club stand, and before long it was full. most of the day was spent chatting to people and handing out membership forms. Sunday came all too quickly and more space was found for yet more cars to park on the display. And what beauties they were. The sun shone, people were chatting and taking pictures. Another great weekend was had by all, its a shame its over too quickly. Roll on next year. A BIG thankyou to everyone who came and displayed their pride and joy's on the club stand. See you at the next show!
